Mentoring, Motherhood & Making an Impact

A Day in the Life of Kamil Segarra

My day starts early—5 AM—with a Peloton workout and a few quiet minutes of journaling using the We’re Not Really Strangers self-reflection kit. It’s my moment to reset before the day takes off. Soon after, the house is buzzing with activity: breakfast, backpacks, and school drop-off for my two boys, Jasper and Lucas. On my commute to the office, I soak in motivation from Mel Robbins or Dr. Julie Smith—fuel for both personal and professional growth.

At Take Stock, my workday begins with coffee, emails, and morning team meetings focused on our students. By 10 AM, I’m in mentor support sessions, then meeting with potential guest speakers for upcoming student events. Lunch often takes a backseat, especially when a student needs immediate attention—which always becomes our top priority.

Midday, I lead virtual orientations for new mentors joining our community. Most afternoons are dedicated to planning College Decision Day—an event I’m deeply passionate about. I get to merge my hospitality background with our mission, managing everything from vendor calls to décor inspiration to logistics.

By late afternoon, I’m multitasking—answering a parent’s call in Spanish while driving to preschool pickup. As a bilingual mom, I’m proud to support our Hispanic families in navigating the application process and breaking down language barriers.

Evenings are for my family: dinner, playtime, bath, and bedtime stories. Once the kids are asleep, I wind down with a bit of TV or meditation before lights out at 10 PM.

It’s a full life—but it’s fulfilling. I’m raising a family, empowering students, and helping build a brighter future for our community. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
